Along with Matthias Dammann, Gernot Wagner is one of the leading double-top pioneers and builders in the world today. He prefers to refer to his soundboards as "composite" since they use Nomex as a spacer between two wooden "skins". This results in a very stiff top (which guarantees stability) as well as a low weight/density, resulting in a very efficient top for the movement of sound and vibration. Increased volume is of course a well-known by-product of this design, and is popularly sought-after by many contemporary players. The sides are lined internally with cypress which reinforces the stiffness of the box, thereby improving the isolation of vibration as much to the soundboard as possible. This guitar is in practically like-new condition with almost no sign of wear at all. It features a beautiful set of CSA rosewood, and is meticulously made - the inlay work, rosette execution - all top-notch. It is fitted with Rodgers tuning machines and has an elevated fingerboard. Overall a very fine example of this makers' pioneering work.
